Complete Mix Activated Sludge with FERMENTER – AquaPASS – (Pre and Post Selector Basins with Fermenter for Bio-P & Denitrification optimization)

Aqua Aerobic Systems – AquaPASS process incorporates selector basins both anaerobic and post anoxic with a fermenter to produce VFAs to aid in formation of Phosphorus accumulating organisms.   With the selectors it equivalent to 5 stage with a RAS concentrator . Available with both fixed diffusers or retrievable diffusers where it is possible to promote single or multiple basins. Cyclically operated aeration and mixing to provide load based proportional power savings. This concept allows for fewer aeration basins initially since the facility can have a single aeration basin and add basins with growth. MixAir systems can accommodate low cost construction of a round basin with movable forms or other configuration needed.

AquaPASS system is designed to meet the new stringent Total Nitrogen (6.9 mg/l) and Total Phosphorus (0.86 mg/l) effluent levels influenced by the Chesapeake Bay Initiative.  Inquire for low Total Nitrogen (TN) Requirement of 8, 5 and 3 mg/l. A key feature to attain low TN is the “Phase Separator Conditioning Stage”  where return sludge is concentrated and fed to the pre-anoxic selector.  Supernatant is returned to staged aeration basins.

Designed to provide 140% more treatment capacity in the same footprint as the previous conventional activated sludge system.

Energy Savings of Separating Mixing and Air; Load Based Power SavingsMix Air

The following chart demonstrates the relative cost savings that can be realized by using the MixAir system in biological reactor. When comparing a life cycle cost analysis, whether with diffused aeration or surface aeration, the use of the MixAir system can lead to the best option to match the actual conditions. Example: a 200 blower HP required with diffusers alone for mixing, must run all the time, where only 115 blower HP required for air for oxygen at design loading. With a 25 HP mixer, only need to provide 140 total HP to mix and aerate (lower blower capitol $, lower power consumption at design load).

When factoring additional power savings related to lower than design organic loadings during much of plant life, as is typical, total savings can be quite considerable.

The system features fine bubble “Retrievable Diffusers” in racks that can be lifted by a davit crane and rotated outside the basin or other aeration devices (fixed fine or coarse bubble diffusers, jets or surface aeration may be used. Mixing is provided by proven AquaDDM® Direct Drive floating mixers.
