Ozone is one of the strongest oxidants and disinfectants used in treating water and wastewater. Used for removal of taste/odor, color, turbidity, reduced metals, inorganic compounds (iron, manganese, sulfide) total organic carbon (TOC) and chlorine disinfection by product (DBP) precursors. As a disinfectant it inactivates viruses, bacteria, E-coli, Giardia, Cryptosporidium.
In wastewater disinfection, EPA is looking at possible virus inactivation which may make Ozone the ideal choice since UV alone could not meet this requirement.

Primozone uses an improved version of the cold plasma ozone generation method (or dielectric barrier discharge method) to produce ozone. The Primozone method enables a more efficient creation of free oxygen radicals, which in turn makes it possible to create ozone with higher concentrations.

High ozone concentration
With the Primozone cold plasma ozone technology it is possible to produce ozone with an ozone concentration of up to 20 wt%. The high concentration is important for the dissolution of the ozone gas in water. The higher the concentration, the higher the efficiency in dissolving the ozone gas in water. Tests of the Primozone GM ozone generator measured a 98% dissolution rate.
High ozone concentration means low oxygen consumption
The Primozone ozone generators produce ozone with a concentration of 13.4 wt% which is equivalent of 0.01 O3 lb/cuft 200g O3/Nm3 (200 grams of ozone per normal cubic meter oxygen) while traditional ozone generators produce ozone with a concentration of 100g O3/Nm3. This means that with a 100% capacity the Primozone ozone generator uses half the amount of oxygen compared to a traditional ozone generator.
